Authors Note: After posting this entry I realized that the title had autocorrected. The Title was supposed to read RECAP FROM QUARANTINE: GOD FRIENDED ME.
Quarantine has been hard on everyone. I’ve been hearing it everywhere. “What are we supposed to do with all of our time?” “How do I stay sane?” “No new movies, not much tv!” “I just re-watched friends for the 20th time, I’m all out of ideas!” What I’ve decided to do is find a show that I may have missed and give it a shot! I’ll watch the premiere episode, do a review and give it a rating of 1-10 face coverings with 10 masks being a MUST WATCH!
HERE WE GO!
God Friended Me
Season 1
Episode: Pilot
Synopsis: The series follows Miles Finer (Brandon Micheal Hall), an outspoken atheist with the agenda to share his beliefs through his podcast, called “The Millennial Prophet.” He then gets a strange friend request on Facebook from an account named “God.” Through the account, Miles meets people it suggested him to send a friend request, including online journalist Cara Bloom (Violett Beane). A large string of events and coincidences caused by the account stirs up his beliefs and leaves him questioning everything.
Ricki’s Take: Sounds a little odd if you ask me but hey, I’m open to anything. I can’t wait to see how the relationship with the Big Man develops and hopefully Miles will eventually open his heart to the Lord! Here are some trailers to give you a feeling for the show.
Author’s note: This is the point where you would normally watch the episode of the show. Trust tree? I didn’t really want to pay $1.99 for it. I was going to insert a trailer for the show at this point so maybe I’ll be able to watch that and fake an opinion.
Author’s note: Six minutes?!? Fuck that. There has to be a shorter one. OK, I found one that is 2 minutes. Let’s give this a shot.
Authors note: Nope. Couldn’t even bring myself to click it. I was however able to hold my cursor over the thumbnail to see preview of the clip. Here is my Recap!
Ricki’s Take: Wow! What a journey. That guy sure does know how to read his phone while standing at the bus stop. The weather looks really pleasant and I love that decision from the director. You can really tell that there isn’t a glare and he can fully read what is being displayed. The introduction to Cara Bloom was a shocker. We don’t even know much about the phone holding guy at this point and now God wants him to friend a random girl? I mean the writers didn’t hold back at all. It seems like the whole point of this will be to “bring them together”. I have to wonder if race or social issues will come into play at all.
Overall: Beautiful, Courageous, Concise.
